NUMO and the Ministry of Youth and Sports have created a space to commemorate the heroes of the youth movement

In partnership with the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine, NUMO has joined forces to create a space where the names and photographs of young people who served in the Armed Forces of Ukraine and died defending their country are collected. The space is designed to preserve the memory of their dedication, responsibility, and contribution to the development of communities.

NUMO and the Ministry of Youth and Sports have created a space to commemorate the heroes of the youth movement

Since 2014, and later after the start of the full-scale invasion, thousands of representatives of the Ukrainian youth movement have stood up to defend Ukraine. These were people who, before the war, were making changes in their communities: developing youth centers, organizing volunteer initiatives, conducting educational programs, and uniting communities around important values.

Some of them did not return from the front. Their names, faces, and stories remain in the memory of their friends, colleagues, and communities. Their work lives on in the youth spaces they created, the initiatives they supported, and the generations of young people they inspired.

Recognizing this loss and gratitude for their service became the basis for creating a space of remembrance that honors the heroes of the youth movement who gave their lives for Ukraine.

For NUMO and its member organizations, participation in this project was a matter of honor and internal responsibility. The creation of a memorial space is an important step toward honoring the deceased and organizing the public memory of those who belonged to the youth movement and were also defenders of Ukraine.
