The National Ukrainian Youth Association (NUMO) has presented a new video podcast titled «Numo bez bar’ieriv» («NUMO Without Barriers») — a media project that shares real-life stories about creating accessible environments in Ukrainian communities. The first episode is already available on YouTube.
The goal of the podcast is to promote the principles of accessibility and inspire young people to become agents of change. In each episode, the project team showcases practical experience in implementing inclusive solutions in business, the public sector, and public spaces, while also addressing important social issues through personal stories.
The premiere episode is dedicated to the «Liteplo» — event space near Ternopil. The team behind the venue is implementing accessibility principles step by step, taking into account the needs of different groups of people.
Lesia Chernetst, co-founder of the space, says that accessibility became a key idea at the planning stage:
«We don’t see people with disabilities not because they don’t exist, but because the right conditions haven’t been created for them to be present.»
She is joined on the podcast by Taras Khomitskyi, head of the NGO «Barrier-Free Ternopil», and Ivanna Hrebeniak, communications manager of the Ternopil team of NUMO, who share their personal stories of overcoming barriers.
Why This Matters
According to NUMO research, young people in small communities often lack access to cultural leisure activities and inclusive spaces. As a result, creating a barrier-free environment is becoming one of the key priorities of youth policy in Ukraine.
The podcast «Numo bez bar’ieriv» («NUMO Without Barriers») aims to show that accessibility is not only about ramps and technical solutions, but above all about changing social attitudes and everyone taking an active role.
