Biography

Andriy Bilyk was born on July 8, 1984, and lived in Lviv.

He was a member of the Plast youth organization in Lviv (1996–2000), a group leader of the Kondory group of the P. Polubotok Troop No. 15 (1998–1999), and the Rysi group of the P. Orlyk Troop No. 44. He was an active participant in the Orange Revolution.

He was professionally interested in tourism. He was a member of the judging panel for the 2004 «Stezhkami Heroiv» (Paths of Heroes) tourism competition. He obtained two higher education degrees.

He worked in the tourism business.

He was drafted into the army in February 2015. He served in the 130th Separate Reconnaissance Battalion.

He died on the morning of November 22, 2015, near the village of Malynove in the Luhansk region, when he was blown up by an explosive device.

He was buried in the village of Dubrovytsia, Yavoriv district, Lviv region.

By Decree of the President of Ukraine No. 9/2016 of January 16, 2016, «for personal courage and high professionalism in defending the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, and loyalty to the military oath,» he was awarded the medal «For Military Service to Ukraine» (posthumously).
