Biography

Since 2002, he has been a member of the Plast scout troop «Mishenata» (Rabbits) of Nest No. 9 «Prybludy Horobinoi Nochi» (Stray Birds of the Night) in the Lviv station. After moving on to senior scouting, he became a member of the 15th troop of the Ukrainian Scouting Association «Order of the Iron Spike» named after S. Zavoyovnik. He actively participated in the implementation of national-patriotic events.

In the spring of 2014, he volunteered for the Azov regiment, with which he took part in combat operations in Donetsk Oblast. He later became a fighter in the Harpoon special forces unit. After returning from the war, he was actively involved in self-development and travel. But with the start of the full-scale Russian invasion, while in the United States, he returned to Ukraine and volunteered for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He died as part of the 73rd Marine Special Operations Center on June 18, 2022, near the village of Bila Krynytsia, Bashtansky District, Mykolaiv Region.

He was awarded the Iron Plast Cross by decision of the Plast Supreme Council on June 19, 2022.

«He tried to be everywhere and with everyone. Despite his rebelliousness and lifelong hooliganism, he always had a book with him, sometimes a saxophone, and lived a full life. People say he was a natural intellectual. Kurka was unique. Legends are told about people like him, and most of them are true,» recalls Artem Dymyd's friend Romko Kolobok.
