Biography

Denys Karaban, known in Plast under the pseudonym «Trizub», was born on December 6, 1983. He joined Plast as an adult and became one of the founders of the Plast branch in Sumy. On April 2, 2017, he took the Plast oath and established Novatska Nest No. 57 «The Frenzied Torch» in Sumy. Later, after moving to Mukachevo, he founded Nest No. 67, «Residents of the Enchanted Valley.» He was an active participant in numerous Plast training sessions and camps, including serving as commander of the «Free Lands» novice camp in 2021.

In April 2021, Denys signed a contract to serve in the Territorial Defense Reserve. With the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, he was mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine, where he was promoted to the rank of junior sergeant. During his service, he proved himself to be a devoted and courageous warrior. On May 6, 2024, Denys Karaban was killed in action. He was 40 years old.

«He genuinely cared about your smallest problem and helped solve it—as if the fate of the world depended on it. I don’t know anyone else who would share their support so sincerely,” recalls Plast member Anna Trypolska.

In Sumy, the local Plast chapter is preparing a «Trident» biography with a QR code that will allow users to view shared photos from events and trips.
