Biography

He was born on April 20, 1977, in the village of Trostynka, Kyiv region. As an adult, he joined the Kyiv City Organization of the Ukrainian Youth Association (SUY) in Ukraine, where he and his family actively participated in camps, trips, and training sessions. He headed the Kyiv branch of SUM, and in 2007–2009 he held the position of treasurer of the Regional Administration of SUM in Ukraine.

During the Revolution of Dignity, Oleg was one of the founders of the 4th Cossack Hundred of Maidan and led it, sustaining injuries. After that, he worked in the Security Service of Ukraine. In 2016–2018, he headed the military-civilian administration in Novoaydar, Luhansk region, where he actively implemented Ukrainization. In 2019, he was awarded the Order of Courage, III degree, for his selfless defense of the constitutional principles of democracy, human rights, and freedoms, demonstrated during the Revolution of Dignity, as well as for his public and volunteer activities.

With the start of Russia's full-scale invasion in 2022, Oleg Yurchenko once again stood up to defend Ukraine in the ranks of the Armed Forces. He died on January 2, 2023, in the battles near Bakhmut. Friends and comrades remember Oleg as a bright, sincere, and courageous person who was the foundation of the patriotic community in Kyiv and a knight of honor.
