Biography

He was one of those who revived Plast in Ukraine in 1989, a participant in the first Plast camp, which was forcibly dispersed by the KGB.

He served as an assistant grenadier in the 109th Separate Mountain Assault Battalion (10th Separate Mountain Assault Brigade) with the rank of soldier.

On May 18, 2019, shortly before midnight, near the village of Zholobok (Popasna district), in order to encircle the company stronghold of the 10th Brigade, which was defending the village of Krymske at the time, a group of terrorist infantry moved into the «security zone.» To cover the actions of its infantry, the enemy began to intensively shell Ukrainian positions with grenade launchers, large-caliber machine guns, and small arms. Soldiers Petro Parsevonich and Roman Dosyak were at the platoon stronghold and noticed the enemy's movement, so they and their comrades opened fire on the enemy group. As a result of the defenders' decisive actions, the enemy retreated. To cover their retreat, the terrorists intensified their shelling of the stronghold, and soldiers Dosyak and Parsevonich were wounded; they were given the necessary assistance and evacuated. Roman Dosyak was evacuated by medical aviation to the Mechnikov Hospital in a coma. Doctors tried to save his life for five days. He died on May 22, 2019, at the Mechnikov Regional Clinical Hospital as a result of a severe bullet wound to the head.

He was buried at the Lychakiv Cemetery in Lviv.

He is survived by his mother, wife, and two children.

By decree of the President of Ukraine No. 131/2020 of April 7, 2020, he was awarded the Order of Courage, III degree (posthumously), «for his selfless service to the Ukrainian people and personal courage in defending the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.»
