Biography

Community Involvement: Semen was born and raised in Kyiv. He studied at the Ukrainian Academy of Leadership, where he developed a passion for ecology and environmental activism. He was a junior at the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine (NULES), majoring in «Forestry and Landscape Architecture.» In January 2022, he successfully completed a four-month course in forestry in Sweden. He dreamed of becoming an arborist—a specialist in the care and treatment of trees. He worked at the «Peli can live» charity foundation, where he was the manager of the «Water for the Botanical Garden» project. Semen also volunteered at the BUR camp in Bar in 2018.

With the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Semen joined the «Svoboda» battalion as part of the 4th Special Operations Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine. On June 21, 2022, he was killed in an airstrike while defending Severodonetsk, having first led his group to safety.

Memorial: Semen’s sister, Anna Oblomey, remembers him as a person who «knew how to stand up for his beliefs and believed that you can create the world exactly as you want it to be.»

«Semen would wake up at four in the morning and work until late at night, devoting all his energy to his comrades,» his comrades recall.
