Biography

Born on May 26, 1986, in Rivne, into a family of military personnel.

Member of Plast since 1993 (belonged to the «Lions» group, since 1996 — to the Ustim Karmaliuk preparatory camp), senior Plast member. In 2003 and 2004, he participated in the Legion military-patriotic camp.

He graduated from Ivan Ohienko Kamianets-Podilskyi National University with a degree in psychology. He was a member of the KVN team Nash Format. He was a well-known showman and social activist in Kamianets-Podilskyi, host of the youth TV program «Show Kadriv,» founder and soloist of the band «Svoieridne,» and later — the band The DenDi (under the stage name «Nick Svoieridnyi»).

He took an active part in the events of the Revolution of Dignity as a member of the 15th Maidan Self-Defense Unit «Free People.» In December 2013, he recorded a music video for his own song «Your Destiny Matters.»

He worked as a junior police sergeant. From April 2015, he served in the Harpoon battalion.

On July 22, 2015, while returning from a mission near the «Shakhty» checkpoint between the cities of Avdiivka and Yasynuvata (Donetsk region), he suffered numerous shrapnel wounds to his limbs and torso as a result of a tripwire explosion and died during evacuation to the Pokrovsk military hospital. Three of Mykola's comrades were wounded along with him, one of whom, Yevhen Biryukov, also died in a hospital in Dnipro.

Mykola's funeral took place on July 25 at the garrison Officers' House, and he was buried at the Church of Saints Peter and Paul, where he was planning to get married in a month.

He is survived by his parents, brother, and fiancée.

By Decree of the President of Ukraine No. 546/2015 of September 15, 2015, «for courage, dedication, and high professionalism in defending the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, and loyalty to the military oath,» he was awarded the Order «For Courage» III degree (posthumously).
