Biography

He took the Plast oath on November 24, 2019, at the grave of Oleksandr Tysovsky at the Lychakiv Cemetery in Lviv. He was one of the founders of the Plast station in Izium, Kharkiv region. He headed the Plast Youth Center of the Izium Territorial Community.

During the enemy offensive on the Kharkiv region, he was occupied in the city of Izium, where he secretly supported the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the local population. He was taken from his home by the occupiers on the orders of local pro-Russian collaborators. On December 28, 2022, his wife was informed that her husband had been tortured to death. His body was found in a mass grave near the city of Izium, in grave No. 3, and was identified by DNA analysis.

«Oleg was an IDP and immediately became part of our community, heading the local Plast organization and devoting himself to children. Every December 25, they brought the Bethlehem fire from Jerusalem to the community. Oleg was a good family man, husband, and father. He was also a true patriot and intellectual. He was educated and interesting, profound, confident, and persuasive,» recalls Volodymyr Matsokin, deputy mayor of Izium.
