Biography

Serhiy graduated from Merefyansky Lyceum No. 7 and studied at the Ukrainian Academy of Leadership (UAL) in Mariupol, where he actively developed the Plast scout movement. He consciously joined Plast as an adult. From the age of 15, he was involved in youth activism, traveling around Ukraine, mostly by hitchhiking. He participated in volunteer projects and helped soldiers in hospitals in Kharkiv, Mariupol, Kyiv, and Ternopil. He was also a member and volunteer of the Foundation for Regional Initiatives (FRI) and Building Ukraine Together (BUR) organizations.

He was a student at the Ukrainian Academy of Law when Russia launched its full-scale invasion, but on the third day of the war, he voluntarily joined the defenders of Kyiv. He served as a sergeant in the 67th Separate Mechanized Brigade.

«Serhiy did not want to live in an occupied country. Not every man of mature age has such an understanding of the situation, that everything is done not for salaries, status, or awards. There is a national liberation struggle going on, and he understood this well,» recalls the commander of the 67th OMBr DUK company.

In the spring of 2022, he met Kateryna. In June 2023, the couple got married. 

«He taught me to be kinder. Serhiy was lucky because he did good deeds for people and it came back to him. He really loved his family, his father, who died early, and talked about him a lot,» recalls Kateryna.

He died on October 11, 2023, while performing a combat mission in the Serebryansky Forest near Kreminna in the Luhansk region. He is buried in the Mykulynets Cemetery in Ternopil.
