The NUMO team held another meeting with mentors, this time online. The event provided an opportunity to discuss the results of the work after the July training, share practices, and identify new needs and areas for development in working with young people.
The participants shared how they are applying the insights gained during the summer training in their work. The team discussed which approaches have already shown results and where additional support from NUMO is needed. Considerable attention was paid to observations and conclusions that emerged while working with young people in communities.
During the reflection session, participants chose visual metaphors that best describe their participation in the project. AMCU communications specialist Anastasia Gachkevich chose the image of a nut as a symbol of a protected but not yet complete process:
«Something has already been done — there is a tree that has been cared for, and it has borne fruit. But this is not the end. There is a strong shell that protects what is inside. The results are already visible, but you can always dig deeper».
BUR Regional Development Manager Yevhen Shatilov shared his experience of shifting the team's focus from large cities to frontline communities. He noted that such changes were an important step towards a deeper understanding of the needs of young people in the regions that need support the most:
«We decided to focus less on large cities and work more in frontline territories. I am very proud of the series of events in Okhtyrka, and this month we were in Kherson and are planning to visit Mykolaiv. It is always a valuable experience — and most importantly, the feeling that your work is really needed by someone».
The meeting confirmed that mentoring is a process that requires constant dialogue and mutual support. Each conversation helps to better understand the needs of young people and organizations in different regions. The NUMO team emphasized the importance of continuing to work on common goals — more trips, new acquaintances, and strengthening the participation and influence of youth initiatives.
